Calculating total emissions

LDAR Server (web) can calculate estimated emissions of a plant. To meet the reporting requirements of local regulations, the items below must be confirmed before calculating the emissions:

  1. The hourly leak rate of each component type, including zero, pegged, default average and correlation equation.
  2. Approach for calculating emissions from unmonitored components. The parameters must be setup in the setup file by LDAR Server system administrator.
    1. If use average leak rate of monitored component at the plant. (default is false)
    2. if above answer is false, use pegged leak rate or default average leak rate

To get accurate result, it is essential to set up/review the following parameters:

  1. The shutdowns of the year. (Settings->Shutdowns)
  2. Pipeline and it's fluid. (Settings->Setting List->Pipelines)
  3. Fluid substances. (Settings->Setting List->Fluids->Substances)
  4. Response factors. (Settings->Setting List->Response Factors)
  5. Monitoring equipment model. (Settings->Setting List->Equipment Models)
  6. Monitoring equipment. (Settings->Inspection Equipment)
  7. Leak rates. (Settings->Setting List->Leak Rates)
  8. Component category. (Settings->Setting List->Component categories)
  9. Pipelines. Ensure fluid is setup properly for each pipeline.
  10. Components. Ensure the pipeline is properly set up for each component.
  11. Leak repair. Ensure repair results are logged in the system.

Upon the above parameter are all set, you can run calculating emissions at the end of year or beginning of the next year.

  1. Go to screen of Emissions at urlOfLDARServer/emissions
  2. Click Run button. The calculation will start and will take a while depending on the size of inventory. Once calculation is completed, you will see a message of 'Done' under the button.
  3. Refresh the page and the emissions will display on the screen.
